My most recent musical discovery, Lianne la Havas, is the best sound traveling the UK to the US since Amy Winehouse. I’m fully addicted and a little in love; I’ve had her debut album Is Your Love Big Enough? on repeat for days. Best of all? After she chose to leave the Norbury Manor Business and Enterprise College for Girls, her gravelly velvet voice came by a profession in music naturally. As she said in an interview, “I’ve been singing since I was about 7 and playing piano. I’ve sort of always sang and loved music. I found it was my favorite subject in school, but I didn’t really know until recently that I would want to make a career out of it. It was such a big part of me, I didn’t really focus on it too much it was just something I always did.”
Thank you for taking the leap, Lianne. Love, the music industry.
